Inside Club Eden: What Makes a Great Swinger Club?

Inside Club Eden: What Makes a Great Swinger Club?

Every swinger has a home club the way every churchgoer has a home parish — except ours has a St. Andrew's cross, a porn room, and significantly better fries. On this week's Wednesday QUICKIE, we're finally doing the episode people keep asking for: a full, unfiltered tour of Club Eden San Antonio, the place we lovingly refer to as "our club" like we own stock in it. (We don't. We just pay the cover charge with alarming frequency.)

Safety First, Sexy Second

Ask Pris what makes Club Eden great and she'll say one word: "safetiness." Is that a word? No. Is it the right word? Absolutely. A swinger club lives or dies on whether you feel safe there, and Eden's staff are quietly watching everything — in the best way. Phones out in the playroom? Handled before you can say "delete that." Somebody over-served and wobbly? Escorted out with a ride arranged. You don't think they're paying attention, and then you realize they've been paying attention the entire time, like sexy air traffic controllers.

Our rule for anyone trying a lifestyle club for the first time: if you walk in and your gut says nope, turn around. Go with your gut. Your gut has seen things.

The Toilet Paper Incident (A Cautionary Tale)

Now, we can't talk cleanliness without telling you about our very first club — a competitor who shall remain nameless, partly out of class and partly out of legal prudence. It was Adam's birthday. It was a slow Thursday. And it was the night Pris's single greatest lifestyle nightmare — the one she'd warned Adam about since literally the day they got together — came true in front of a viewing window called The Fishbowl.

We won't spoil the whole thing here, because hearing Pris relive it in real time is worth the price of admission (the episode is free, but still). Let's just say it involved cheap toilet paper, an exhibitionist cowgirl scenario, and Adam performing the most romantic act of his life: manual debris removal, mid-stroke, without missing a beat. Marriage material, ladies.

The moral: this is why Club Eden stocking flushable wipes in every stall matters. This is also why Pris fell in love with a bathroom.

A Restroom Worth Taking Pictures In

Speaking of which — the women's restroom at Eden San Antonio is so nice that taking a mirror selfie in it is basically a rite of passage. Wipes in every stall, a bowl of pads and tampons, mouthwash on the counter, flattering lighting. The men's room is, in Adam's words, "not as bougie," featuring a paper towel dispenser with a personal vendetta that dispenses towels in sizes ranging from "cocktail napkin" to "bath sheet" at random. He dries his hands on his pants. There will be fluids on them later anyway. This is called planning ahead.

Naked From the Front Door

Here's something not every swinger club offers: at Eden you can be naked from the moment you walk in. No "tops only past the velvet rope" fine print. People get naked and dance because it makes them feel free, sexy, and approximately 40% more likely to wander toward the playroom — and watching a room full of adults be completely, joyfully themselves is honestly one of the best parts of ethical non-monogamy culture.

The dress code is equally chill. You can wear tennis shoes. You can wear a T-shirt. Nobody is making you buy a button-down to enter a building where you're planning to be nude by 10:15. And it's BYOB, which at Eden means friends walk in carrying full portable bars and strangers hand you Jell-O shots on principle. That's not a service the club provides — that's just the community. The swinger lifestyle runs on generosity and tiny plastic cups.

The Back of House: Benches, Cages, and One Very Busy Bed

The attached BDSM area isn't as massive as Infliction at Eden DFW (an actual warehouse of kink, highly recommended), but it's got everything a Saturday night crowd needs: St. Andrew's crosses that are rarely vacant, a cage nobody has ever been seen inside, and a piece of furniture Adam confidently identified as a "BDSM horse" before Pris located its actual name — spanking bench — in about four seconds. There's even a gentleman who shows up most Saturdays, doesn't work there, and offers scenes and loans out his gear purely for the love of the game. A true public servant.

And then there's the porn room: two beds, couches, and a projection screen situated such that the only way to actually watch the porn is flat on your back. Adam has thoughts about the viewing angles. Pris has seven reasons she doesn't care. You'll have to listen to the episode for the full accounting.

Tip Your Chambermaids

The playroom staff flip sheets, sanitize beds, and clean up after — let's be diplomatic — enthusiastic guests, every thirty minutes, all night, on weekends. Adam looked up the actual job title and it's "chambermaid," which we're now making happen. Whatever club you attend, wherever you are: tip these people. Even ten bucks. They're mopping up your victory lap.

Come Through (And Eat the Fries)

The menu is small but mighty — pizza, sandwiches, loaded fries that are legitimately great — with one warning from experience: heavy food plus vigorous playing is a combination best approached with respect. Eden opens at 9, runs until 4 AM, and offers newbie nights, poly nights, hot wife nights, and end-of-year membership discounts, so check their site before you go. If you're anywhere near San Antonio — Austin, Corpus, wherever — it's worth the drive. We do an hour each way like it's nothing, because it is nothing, because the night is that good. If you spot us at our usual couch, come say hi.
